Year 1: PRE-Respiratory at 91资源全集

Each respiratory therapy program has its own entrance requirements. To meet the entrance requirements for Respiratory Therapy at the University of Manitoba, you will complete 24 credit hours or one year of study, including the “Pre-Professional Requirements” listed below.

Years 2-4: Professional Studies: Respiratory

During your pre-professional studies at 91资源全集, you will apply for admission to respiratory therapy at another university or college. Enrolment in respiratory therapy programs is limited, and only qualified applicants are chosen.

Three more years of study are required to complete a degree program in respiratory therapy. College programs may be shorter.

Most students who study Pre-Respiratory Therapy at 91资源全集 will apply for admission to the College of Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Manitoba, but you may choose to apply elsewhere. The courses listed below are University of Winnipeg courses that satisfy the University of Manitoba’s entrance requirements for Respiratory Therapy:

Core Courses

- BIOL-1115(3) Cells and Cellular Processes AND BIOL-1116(3) Evolution, Ecology, and Biodiversity
- 6 credit hours Social Sciences or Humanities
- STAT-1501(3) Elementary Biological Statistics I

Non-core Courses

- 3 credit hours first-year English to satisfy the University of Manitoba’s Written English requirement   (Students may use RHET-1105(3) to complete this requirement only if the course was completed prior to September 2024)
- 6 credit hours Electives

Category I Applicants to Respiratory Therapy at the University of Manitoba must have completed the 24 credit hours of pre-professional studies in two consecutive terms (September to April), and have a minimum grade of “B” in all core courses and an Adjusted Grade Point Average of 3.0 (B) to be considered.

If there is space remaining in the program after Category I applicants have been considered, applicants who have completed fewer than 24 credit hours in two consecutive terms (but who have completed the minimum total of 24 credit hours) are considered under Category 2. Category 2 applicants must have a minimum grade of “B+” in all core courses and a minimum Adjusted Grade Point Average of 3.50 (B+).  For more information, contact the School of Medical Rehabilitation at the University of Manitoba.

Note:  You must consult with the school where you plan to complete your studies to ensure you choose an appropriate set of courses, and that you will meet the entrance requirements for your program of choice.

You must meet 91资源全集’s general admission requirements. You need Chemistry 40S and either Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S or Applied Mathematics 40S in order to take some courses in your pre-professional studies. English 40S, Biology 40S and Physics 30S or 40S are recommended.

What if I don’t have these high school courses? You can take “Foundation” courses at UWinnipeg that are equivalent to high school-level math and science (MATH-0041 & MATH-0042; CHEM-0100) or complete high school courses at The Collegiate.
